Schools & Education Programmes

Farm-based learning for classes and youth groups — plants, animals, sustainable farming and hands-on real work.

At Algarve Biofarm, we welcome schools for off-peak visits only. Classes, kindergartens, youth groups and home-learning networks are invited for half-day and full-day educational visits near Paderne during quieter times of the year. Our sessions are grounded in real farm work — aloe, aromatics, animals, soil, water and seasons — and they're designed to be inclusive for all abilities.

Off-peak visits

Special rates for schools during off-peak dates

To make farm education accessible to as many local schools as possible, we offer reduced off-peak rates for visits outside the main tourist season. Group size, age range and duration all affect the final price — we're happy to design a session that fits the class and the budget.

Teachers and group leaders — please get in touch with your preferred dates and the age range of your students, and we'll come back with options.

What students experience

Off-peak school visits

Students walk the aloe groves and the aromatic gardens, meet our farm animals — the donkeys Cacau and Estrella, and Lucky the Shetland pony — and see first-hand what sustainable farming looks like in the Algarve. Every session includes moments of touching, smelling, tasting and asking questions.

We adapt the level and pace to the age group, from early years through to secondary school.

Learning themes

Education with meaning

Programmes can be shaped around themes that match your curriculum, including:

  • Plant life cycles
  • Sustainable farming
  • Aloe vera science
  • Aromatic herbs & the senses
  • Farm animal welfare
  • Soil, water & seasons

Hands-on sessions — such as making a simple aloe gel or a herbal infusion — can be added to reinforce the learning.

The farm is set up for group visits with shaded areas, seating, toilets and safe paths throughout. Sessions are designed to be disabled-friendly. We'll share risk information, a suggested schedule, and clear guidance on what students should bring before your visit.

Sessions can be delivered in English or Portuguese.
